In the mood for soft candy colors….

It’s mid week, and I just need some inspiration.   I don’t need to look further than these lovely soft candy colors!   You can find them splashed all over designer ad campaigns, wear them, eat them, and paint your nails with them.  The possibilities are endless!  So enjoy the pics…because I definitely do!

All that Glitters is Gold (at the Oscars!)

Last night was the 84th Academy Awards! I thought the nine time host, Billy Crystal, did a great job.  Everything seemed to go smoothly, the usual suspects won the coveted awards, and everyone looked fabulously lady-like on the red carpet.  Shimmering gowns, million dollar jewels, and those fabulous up-dos everywhere!  There were so many lovelies, that I honestly couldn’t pick a favorite…I’ll leave that to Joan Rivers and her crew of Fashion Police!

There were gowns “made of gold”…

Mega-watt shine from head to toe…

Accents of sparkle…

Old Hollywood Glamour…

Women in White….

Ethereal Beauties…

A vivacious Glenn Close…

A risky McQueen stunner….

And the couple of the night….

Hollywood’s award season may be over…but fashion never dies!  Stay tuned for sneak peaks at Milan and Paris’s Fall 2012 shows coming soon!

The British Invasion is Here: London’s Fashion Week Fall 2012!

Fashion Week jumped across the pond to London!  This season London’s usual quirkiness was replaced by belts, lace, velvet, and glamour!  And what a treat!!  I love me some spring colors, but something about the deep, haunting jewel tones get me every time.  Here are my picks for best London collections! To view more of the collections visit Fashionologie)

BUT….before we get started, I thought Fergie’s “London Bridge” would be a fun song to hear while viewing the British collections!  Okay, now we can begin…..

Burberry Prorsum  I will never, never, never stop loving their always classy vibe mixed with the ultra glamour and a touch of rock ‘n’ roll…NEVER!

McQ by Alexander McQueen – all hail the McQueen, and in this case, McQ.  I especially love the “short bridal gown” dress!

Mulberry – layers upon layers of fur, lingerie, prints, and silk, and those boots…..fabulous!

Twenty8Twelve - can I puh-lease have all of these items in my closet…now!!

Temperley London  – last season brought light as air lingerie inspired dressing, and this season it was all Fall!  The sparkle, the shine…the fur hats (?!)  LOVE!

Moschino Cheap & Chic  – what else can I say, but that this collection makes me smile!! (and hardly any somber jewel tones anywhere)

And here’s a sneak peak at what the Italians are starting to show!

Gucci  – I mean the vamp thing is so popular, and I’m totally on board (Team Eric), so I’m loving this collection of gowns worthy of wearing all night long….and maybe someone will on Sunday…to the Oscars!

I wish you a fantastic weekend!  And definitely check out Monday’s blog…it will be the best of the best on the Red Carpet at the Academy Awards!!!

Who do you invite to your wedding?

Choosing who to invite to your wedding is a MAH-JOR decision.  I believe this is a decision to tackle with your fiance right away.  You can go about this process in two different ways. You can first decide how big you would like your wedding to be.  (If you’d like a smaller, more intimate affair, then you’ll need to keep your guest count down and will under 200 people.)  Or you can start by creating a rough draft of your guest list and see how many people are on it.  You may be surprised how quickly guests add up when you consider all your family, friends, co-workers etc.  (If you already know where you’d like the ceremony and reception to be, then make sure you know their guest limit!)

This is a good time to also ask your parents if they have a guest list of their own. (Especially if they are offering monetary support for your wedding).  Definitely share your opinions on the size of the wedding you want, and show them your list.  There may be some overlap, etc. If you can believe it, my dad (not including my mom) had a guest list 100 people long?!  Good thing I asked him! Yes, as you can imagine, we had a large wedding….

Having trouble deciding who to invite…or as the case may be not invite?  I found a great flow chart on Blushing Bride Wedding blog.

I hope this helps!  And please, let me know if you have any questions!

Wedding Budget Breakdown

So you’ve been engaged for a little while, you’ve started (or are adding to your existing) wedding pinterest board, and the question that is slowly creeping up in your mind is “what is everything going to cost?”

The wedding budget can be a big source of contention for couples planning their big day.  Once an estimated overall budget is decided, and all parties are comfortable with it, the process of deciding on where to spend the money begins.  This can get tricky very fast.  People have differing opinions on what is “worth” spending money on in regards to weddings.  In fact, a lot of people have strong opinions on where to spend the money.  So, in order to reduce any “money fights” later on, and to ensure no one breaks the wedding piggy bank,  I suggest a budget breakdown.  This enables couples to discuss what aspects of their big day are important to them.  There’s no sugar coating the fact that weddings are expensive, and the charges can add up fast.  And, let’s face it, a small…small percentage of weddings have an unlimited budget.  So, sometimes the tough decisions on venue vs. photographer vs. designer gown, etc. must be made.

Ruffled started a “Wedding Budget Pie Chart” post of different wedding budget breakdowns!  This is a great example of what and where couples are spending their wedding budget.  (To view what the exact percentages were, etc. just click on the link)

Stacey and Joseph

Now, it’s important to keep in mind that budget flexibility will come into play throughout the planning process.  Sometime you’ll “fall in love” with a more expensive gown, a florist, etc. and need to move the budget around.  This is, of course, okay.  The moral of the story is just have a “good idea” or a place to start so that the expenses don’t get out of hand, and so people don’t get upset.

I hope this helped, and check back soon for some “all important” guest list advice!

2012 Grammy’s RedCarpet Recap: Sparkle, Showing a bit of Skin, and Adele!

First things first.  As we all know by now, the world lost “The voice” of our musical generation this past weekend.  Whitney’s Houston’s passing is just so tragic.  She will be missed.

This was my very first CD, and quite possibly still my favorite.   Sigh……

Back on topic…..The Grammy’s are have notoriously been the award show where Music’s Elite get “creative” with their wardrobe choices.   Both the Best Dressed and the Worst Dressed lists are usually full.  This year was no exception.  Sparkle and sneak peaks of skin were BIG trends on the carpet this year!

Sparkle

Showing a Bit of Skin

While in true Grammy Fashion, we were left with some WTF moments on this year’s Red Carpet. ( I had to add Lady G because she chose not to walk the carpet, and they sat her next to Miranda Lambert…random! ha ha!)

The biggest moments during the show were undoubtedly Jennifer Hudson’s beautiful rendition of “I Will Always Love You” as a tribute to Ms. Houston, and Adele’s mesmerizing performance of her Grammy winning song “Rolling in the Deep”!  What a night!

Friday dreams….

Ugh, I have been “under the weather” all week…hopefully I will be feeling better soon!! What’s getting me through this cold (and the fact that it’s about -3 degrees outside?!) is dreaming of one of my favorite places.  Where you ask?  Well, Central Park on a warmy and sunny day, of course!  If I close my eyes, I can feel the sun, hear all the NYC noises, see all the people with their babies and dogs (there are SO MANY babies and dogs in Central Park!) and smell pretzels…yes, pretzels!

(Images from weheartit.com)

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend, and stay tuned for NYC Fashion Week posts!!

L. U. V. Madonna?

With all the pinning that I’ve been doing lately, it’s hard to believe I found time last night to watch the Superbowl….but I did!!  I wouldn’t miss it!  The football drama, the commercials, the halftime show…I love it all.  Unfortunately my football crush, Mr. Brady, (I’ve had this crush mind you since he was a Wolverine… and yes, you can be impressed by my football knowledge!) and his Pats team did not pull out the win.

I know there was mixed reviews on the half time show, but I’ve got to hand it to Madge….she has got it going on!  I can’t decide what I liked more………

But, I did enjoy myself, and it left me excited for her new album!

new album cover? (!!)

My mother thinks she acts like a 16 year old, but me…I think she’s fabulous!  So what are your thoughts?  Are you a big Madonna fan?  Can she do no wrong, or is she aging out of her dance moves?
